The roadway now known as Bishops Walk has been on Rochester maps ever since ?? During its recent history, it has been an access road to warehousing used for Beer Storage, in the years when Fremlin Brothers had a depot in the town. Then in more recent times, it was a means of access for SEEBOARD (the regional electricity before the liberalisation of the energy market). Before then, the Kent Electric Power (KEP) company sat on the site (KEP became SEEBOARD). More details on the companies that were nationalised to form SEEBOARD are here. More details about the Building that became Faraday House is available here. During the KEP days, the building had a clock, and was known as “County House”. According to the recollections on the Medway Memories website, ” The rear entrance to County House was by the cobbled yard used by Fremlins’ brewery depot.” This was what we now know as Bishops Walk.
